About this outing

Haarlem dressed the Grote Markt in Lieven de Key brick, then Catholics raised a second Bavo with a dome on the Leidsevaart, outside the walls. The walk starts at that Koepelkathedraal, then the Vleeshal with ram heads and bull heads at Grote Markt 18, the Vishal, and the Hoofdwacht facing the Coster statue. A cartoonist drew the Toneelschuur. De Koepel was a panopticon prison, one of three such drums in the country. It ends at Station Haarlem, the only large Dutch station still standing in Jugendstil. Ten stops, about 3 km.
