Momentum at the Vleeshal: 28 and 29 August on Grote Markt
Friday dinner and dance, Saturday Tiny Techno, theatre and a club night. Tickets via Houtbaar Haarlem. Limited spots.

Two days in Lieven de Key's meat hall
Momentum takes over the Vleeshal at Grote Markt 18 on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 August 2026. Dinner, a kids programme, theatre and two club nights in the same brick house that held Frans Hals Museum HAL until March. The keys went back to the municipality on 25 March.
City architect Lieven de Key built the hall in 1602-1603. From 1604, fresh meat was sold here and nowhere else in town. The ox heads on the facade still mark that. This weekend a research team measures sound, vibration, visitor flows and bike parking. The municipality runs it with 20Tree and Pand 13. Co-organiser Jeroen Smallegange told Haarlem105 that each slot fits 200 to 500 people, depending on the programme.
Friday: T-Dansant
Three courses from 17:00 to 22:00. Then dancing until 04:00, with Doppelgang and David Vunk plus support. Food and the night sit in the same hall downstairs.
Saturday: kids, attic, club
Tiny Techno: Museum Mysterie runs 12:00 to 17:00. House and techno for children with parents, plus face paint and glitter tattoos. Evening theatre from Speelman & Speelman. Doors 18:30, start 19:00, upstairs according to the organisers. From 22:00 to 04:00 the club programme returns: Laura Meester b2b Merel Helderman, De Sluwe Vos plus support.
Tickets
Each block has its own small capacity. Tickets via houtbaarhaarlem.nl and the Instagram bios of @houtbaar_haarlem and @dekelderhaarlem. Smallegange said on 24 August that tickets were already moving fast.
Same square, other plans
The Vleeshal sits on the south side of Grote Markt, next to Grote Kerk. By day, before doors open, or if you have no ticket:
- Haarlem Highlights for Grote Markt, Grote Kerk and the core
- Haarlem Pub Crawl on another night, once the test night is over
- ProefPark in Kenaupark runs the same weekend, 28 to 30 August
The building stays in use in September. Open Monumentennacht on 10 and 11 September, then Haarlem Vinyl Festival in early October. The museum itself is now at Groot Heiligland 62.
