Over dit uitje

Haarlem has its first clue waiting on the Grote Markt, in the shadow of St Bavo. From the square the route works its way through the old centre to Teylers Museum and back past the Bakenesserkerk. It is a murder mystery walking tour that you run yourself, with no guide setting the pace.

Anyone can play: families with children, groups of friends, couples, colleagues on an away day, or a single player working alone. Each team is up to four people sharing one phone, and bigger groups divide up, which also makes the narrow lanes around the Grote Markt easier to handle. Haarlem is compact enough that teams keep bumping into each other, and there is no set start time to catch.

How to play

The setup is short.

  1. Book the City Game
  2. Check the instructions email
  3. Download the Loquiz app
  4. Start playing whenever you like

The murder of Balthasar is the case in front of you. Codes need breaking, photographs need taking and digital characters need pinning down on details they would rather leave vague. Evidence turns up near the Frans Hals Museum, in the quiet of the Hofje van Bakenes and around the Waalse Kerk, and each answer cuts the suspect list further.

Two or more teams turn Haarlem into a race to the solution, which is what makes this usable for teambuilding as well as a weekend outing. Break off for coffee, come back to it later, and close the case in Haarlem when you are ready.
