A Musical Journey Through Haarlem

Haarlem is more than just a picturesque city. it’s a hotbed of musical history. On Sunday, October 4th at 15:00, music journalist Peter Bruyn and vinyl DJ Sjef Huurdeman will explore the history of Haarlem pop music at De Pletterij. This is an event you won't want to miss, especially if you want to grasp the impact of pop music on this city. The blend of stories and music will make you realize how rich and diverse the musical culture here truly is.

What to Expect

During this afternoon, Bruyn and Huurdeman will highlight the impressive history of pop music along the Spaarne at a rapid pace. The seeds for Haarlem pop music were sown somewhere in the 1960s, and this was no coincidence. Was it the sea air that sparked creativity? Or perhaps the presence of numerous record labels? This event, specially organized for the Haarlem Vinyl Festival, offers a unique spin on the musical history of the city and region. Together with the jubilant Historical Society Haerlem, they will ensure that this afternoon becomes a true musical experience.

Practical Tips

If you plan to visit De Pletterij, make sure to arrive early. The location is in the heart of Haarlem, a short stroll through the city before the event starts. Take your time to explore the beautiful streets and historic buildings of Haarlem. You might also want to soak up the atmosphere in one of the cozy cafes nearby. This event is not just a chance to learn more about Haarlem's music history, but also to experience the city itself.

Don’t forget that Haarlem has even more to offer. Consider extending your visit with a Haarlem Self-Guided Detective Murder Mystery Game or the Secrets of Haarlem Self-Guided Scavenger Hunt & Walking Tour. These experiences give you the chance to explore the city in a unique way.
